PLAYER SKILL

Skill rewards how strongly you solve.

Player Skill and Win Streak measure different things. Your Win Streak counts consecutive wins. Player Skill reflects the quality of your solving performance over time.

Player Skill

A moving score from 0–100. Efficient solves can raise it. A tougher win can leave it unchanged or reduce it slightly if that puzzle score is below your established level.

Win Streak

Counts how many puzzles you have solved in a row. It is separate from Player Skill, so the streak records consistency while Player Skill records solving performance.

How each puzzle is scored

SOLVED

Solve earlier to score higher

The more guesses you have left when you finish, the higher your Puzzle Skill.

What that meansA quick solve with no help moves towards 100. A solve that uses most of your guesses scores lower.

Solved score range: 10–100

FAILED

Progress still counts

The more of the puzzle you complete, the higher your Puzzle Skill even if you do not finish.

What that meansA near miss scores more than getting only a small part of the puzzle. A failed puzzle can never score above 60.

Failed score range: 0–60

Assistance penalties

Hint−4 each
Reveal letter−8 each
Reveal word−15 each

How Player Skill changes

Your first scored puzzle sets the starting point. Each later puzzle blends its Puzzle Skill into your existing Player Skill:

  • Results 2–5: new result has 25% weight
  • Results 6–15: new result has 15% weight
  • Result 16 onward: new result has 10% weight

For an established player, that means roughly 90% existing Player Skill + 10% latest Puzzle Skill.

Why can Skill go down after a win?Winning and performance quality are separate. If you solve the puzzle but its Puzzle Skill is below your established Player Skill, the moving rating can dip slightly. Your Win Streak still increases.
Replays do not change your persistent score.Only the first finished run of each puzzle counts towards Player Skill and Win Streak history. Replays still show a Puzzle Skill, but cannot farm or damage your persistent rating.
