CrossWordy lets you choose how challenging you want the game to be.
You can play Beginner, Standard and Master puzzles, or keep all three selected for the normal CrossWordy progression.
Three difficulty groups
CrossWordy puzzles are grouped into three difficulty levels:
- Beginner – designed to be more approachable, with easier opportunities to make progress.
- Standard – the core CrossWordy experience and the middle level of difficulty.
- Master – more demanding puzzles for players who want a tougher challenge.
All three difficulty groups are selected by default, giving you the standard game progression.
Why difficulty matters
Not every CrossWordy puzzle plays in the same way.
Some grids reveal useful information quickly, while others require more experimentation, pattern spotting and careful use of each guess.
Grouping puzzles by difficulty helps create a more balanced experience and gives players more control over the type of challenge they want.
Choose your own mix
You do not have to play all three difficulty groups.
If you prefer a gentler game, you can choose Beginner puzzles only. If you want more of a challenge, you can select Standard, Master or any combination of the three.
This means you can tailor the puzzle stream to suit how you want to play.
How to change the difficulty setting
You can change your selected difficulty groups at any time.
Open the Game Menu, choose Settings, then select Difficulty.
From there you can turn the following groups on or off:
- Beginner
- Standard
- Master
All three are selected by default as the standard CrossWordy progression.
Difficulty is reviewed over time
Difficulty is not based only on how a puzzle looks when it is generated.
CrossWordy also reviews how puzzles perform once they are played. Player results and feedback can help identify puzzles that appear easier or harder than expected.
This information helps us keep the difficulty groups sensible and improve the puzzle stream over time.
Find the level that suits you
There is no right or wrong difficulty setting.
You might prefer to work through the full progression, stay with Beginner puzzles for a more relaxed game, or concentrate on Master puzzles when you want a tougher challenge.
The important thing is that CrossWordy can adapt to the way you want to play.
